Grief is a personal journey and a natural response to loss. There are no set rules on how you are supposed to grieve, it is a unique experience to the individual.

Time really has no limit when it comes to grief, it can last a lifetime but emotionally changes shape as you move through time. The loss of a loved one is not just a reason to grieve, other types of losses are divorce, miscarriage, financial losses, death of a pet, relocating homes, school changes, health and illness changes and loss of hopes and dreams.

I was moved to take this certification after experiencing my clients need to talk about their losses before the start of a healing session. Some did not recognize that indeed they were grieving in some way. The important part of grief counseling is listening and providing support for the bereaved in a safe and private environment and reassuring them that they are cared for.
